London Fields is both a park, and the name of an area of London, situated in the London Borough of Hackney, East London. The park itself was first recorded in 1540. At this time it was common ground and was used by drovers to pasture their livestock before taking them to market in London.

London Fields contains a cricket pitch, a newly reopened Lido (the lido features a 50metres (164ft) outdoor pool heated to 25 oC), areas of grass, a small BMX track, tennis courts, a table tennis table and two children's play areas. London Fields received a Green Flag award in July 2008. A much-used cycle path runs from Pub on the Park to Broadway Market. London Fields also has a railway station linking it to Hackney Downs railway station and to Liverpool Street Station in the City. The Pub on the Park is the starting point for the annual Dunwich Dynamo night cycle ride.
The London Fields area used to be another neglected corner of East London, usually lumped in as part of Dalston, but the people who have stayed have seen enormous change and it has emerged as a district with its own character. House prices in the area have risen 20% in the past two years and there has been an influx of young, upwardly mobile professionals bringing a perceived gentrification of the area with them. The main shopping street of Broadway Market boasts a wide selection of boutiques, pubs and cafes and thanks to these - and the successful Saturday market - the area is regarded as thriving.
London Fields is also now one of the centres of the London art scene, the initial 'buzz' being fostered by the influential Flowers East gallery. Although this has since moved to Shoreditch, it has left a legacy of small to medium art galleries, often artist-run. 'The Hothouse', a studio/gallery complex which has recently undergone a major expansion, faces onto the park's north east corner. The rise in accommodation costs (partly the result of this cultural upsurge) have ironically meant that few up-and-coming artists can afford to live there, however.
Every Saturday, the market brings a wide variety of producers from around the country to take part in the farmers' market selling quality produce, complemented by many others selling hand-made jewellery, gifts, childrenswear, and vintage clothing.
A document in Hackney library records a game of cricket to have been played on the park as early as 1802, and the cricket strip on London Fields still hosts competitive games throughout the summer (late April - mid September). Several teams from the North East London Cricket League regard the park as their home pitch, most notably London Fields CC, based from the Pub on the Park. During the summer the park can be extremely busy with many people combining an afternoon's barbecue with watching the cricket. The Turley End of the ground is a popular vantage point for those watching the cricket.
Education
There is also a primary school named after the area, 'London Fields Primary School' opposite one of the entrances to London Fields park.
For details of education in London Fields, see List of schools in the London Borough of Hackney.

Alaska Gold Nugget
Alaska Gold Nuggets
A gold nugget is a naturally occurring piece of native gold. Watercourses often concentrate the nuggets and they are recovered by placer mining, but they may also be found in residual deposits where the gold-bearing veins or lodes have decayed. Nuggets are also found in the tailings piles of previous mining operations, especially those left by gold mining dredges. They are never pure 24K in composition but rather about 20 to 22K (~about 83% to 92%). Nuggets are also referred to by their "fineness", for example "865 fine" means the nugget is 865 parts per thousand in gold. The common impurities are silver and copper. Nuggets high in silver content are known as "electrum".
The largest gold nugget ever found was the Welcome Stranger, found at Moliagul, Victoria, Australia in 1869 by John Deason and Richard Oates. It weighed gross, over 2,520 troy ounces (78.38 kg) and returned over 2,284 troy ounces (71.04 kg) net. The largest gold nugget still in existence is the Hand of Faith, found in 1980 using a metal detector.

//
The First Tempo
The first Tempo ever manufactured was the Tempo Handy. It carried a small 1.5 hp engine with three gears, located as a small handle by the left hand. It had a three litre gasoline tank and weighed nearly 28 kilograms. To start the moped, one had to put the engine in the second gear (the start gear) and use the manual pedals to gain speed using the feet while keeping the clutch in. When the speedometer had reached about 10 km/h, the clutch was released and the engine started. It was stopped simply by breaking the connection between the small dynamo and the spark plug by pressing a small switch. This moped sold well and was very cheap, but eventually, more luxuries were needed, and Tempo made the Corvette.
The Corvette
The small and easy-driven Corvette, a small moped manufactured from the early 1960s until 1994. It had a 50cm3 engine which produced about 2.5 hp and four manual gears, shifted with a pedal on the left side of the motor block. The combination of German engines and Norwegian frames was cheap and reliable, with few errors. They were especially popular during the 1960s and the 1970s. Carrying a 5 litre gasoline tank, it needed a small amount of two-stroke oil mixed with the gasoline to run smoothly. The manufacter recommended 4% oil mixture with the gasoline, but now you may use 2%.The engine started by pressing the gear pedal all the way down (to the first gear), and then to the gear position between 1 and 2 (neutral), then hitting the kickstarter with the left foot. The Corvette were very reliable, you just tip the gas dipper(like choke) a few times, a bit throttle and kick, and the Corvette would start.
The mopeds Tempo made were easy to acquire, and were sold at grocery marts as well as supermarkets and bicycle stores. In Norway before 1980, a driver's licence for a moped was not required, but the driver had to be 16 years old.
Although the Corvette sold well, they headed towards the more sporty generation and manufactured the Tempo Panter, with more of a crosser look, but with the same engine size and tank volume. This was also a big success.
Motorcycles
Tempo also made motorcycles. The smallest was actually a Corvette with a 49cm2 engine, producing 4,3 hp, sold under the Comet brand. This small motorcycle had a longer seat, allowing two persons to ride.
The cruiser-like CZ was also produced. It had a 150cm2 engine with 6,8 hp and was sturdy and comfortable to ride. A speeder-like variant was also produced; the Fighter. This motorcycle had the technical specifications of 12,5 hp, and with a larger fuel tank and a more sportier look than all the other modells. All these variants were popular at their heights.
The End of Tempo
Eventually, Tempo did not sell to well, due to the march of the Japanese mopeds and motorcycles. At the end of the 1980s, the Honda MT5 and the Suzuki TSX were introduced, with five gears and a lighter and more comfortable brake, gear and clutch system. The Japanese models also used less gas. The Tempo Corvette was discontinued in 1994, and the Panter in 1993. Tempo continued to make some mopeds with improved specifications, but they never sold as well as Honda or Suzuki, seeing as they had turn lights, neutral gear lamps, ignition locks, and a better suspension system.
Today, the Tempo mopeds and motorcycles are the focus of entusiasts, and they are collected and restored around the country.

The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH ((Fation de l'industrie horloge suisse) is the Swiss watch industry's leading trade association. It is headquartered in Bienne, Switzerland. Most of the Swiss Watch Companies are members.
On the FH website, one can find the listings of all the members, including most of the manufacturers of parts and their respective websites, as well as many other interesting information about the Swiss Watch Industry, including the rules on the label Swiss Made, statistics, etc.
External links
It is a private, non-profit trade association, with over 500 members representing more than 90% of all Swiss watch manufacturers (finished products, watch movements, components, etc.).
The Federation's avowed goals are:
"To contribute to the development of the Swiss watch industry."
"To establish a permanent link between its members to promote their joint interests."
"To represent the Swiss watch industry in dealing with the Swiss, foreign and international authorities and economic organisations."
"To protect the interests of its members in the drafting of national and foreign legislation, as well as during international negotiations to defend its members' interests by means of legal proceedings."
Aside from offices in Switzerland, it maintains permanent offices in Hong Kong and Japan.
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH launched a proposal regarding the "Swiss made" label. The main reason is that some companies that manufacture fine watches do not enjoy the quality of some timepieces that have the "Swiss made" label.
Jean-Daniel Pasche, who is currently the chairman of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH, said that the reform project looks forward to improve the way fine watches are evaluated.

Madras (cloth)
I want to introduct something about .
Madras is a lightweight cotton fabric with patterned texture, used primarily for summer clothing -- pants, shorts, dresses and jackets. The fabric takes its name from the former English name of the city of Chennai, India.
One style popular during the 1960s was called bleeding Madras. It used dyes that were not colorfast in a typically plaid design, resulting in bleeding and fading colors that yielded a new look to the fabric each time it was laundered.
The fabric is mentioned many times in the S.E. Hinton book The Outsiders as a favored clothing worn by the Socs, normally as a shirt or a jacket.

History
In July 1883 plans were submitted to the Board of Governors for a school for girls in Napier, and the following month the Board advertised for a Lady principal who would be required to teach English, Latin, French and Mathematics and take charge of the Boarding establishment. Miss M.E. Hewett was appointed, and the school opened on January 29, 1884. The original school course included English, French, Latin, German, Drawing, Singing and Calisthenics. Thirty nine pupils were on the books that first day, and one boarder was enrolled.
The original school building had classrooms on the ground floor, and rooms for the boarders upstairs. It stood where the main hostel building, Hewett House, now stands. It was badly damaged in the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake, and had to be demolished. The main building of the present school, named Spencer Building after Miss A.E.J. Spencer, the school's third principal, stands in what was the original playing area of the first school.
The school hall features a large painting by renowned New Zealand artist, Rita Angus.
Uniform
Napier Girls' High has a summer uniform worn in terms 1 and 4, and a winter uniform worn in terms 2 and 3. The summer uniform is a blue skirt with a white short sleeve blouse and blue sandals. The winter uniform is a Napier tartan kilt with a white long sleeve blouse, blue/white stripped tie and blue jersey with blue socks or black tights and black shoes.

A leather "Newmarket headcollar" (UK) or "stable halter" (US) for horses
A halter, headcollar, or, less often, headstall, is headgear that is used to lead or tie up livestock and, occasionally, other animals; it fits behind the ears (behind the poll), and around the muzzle. To handle the animal, usually a lead rope or lead shank is attached. On smaller animals, such as dogs, a leash is attached to the halter.

History
A show halter on a Murray Grey bull
Sheep wearing a cotton rope halter.
Halters may be as old as the early domestication of animals, and their history is not as well studied as that of the bridle or hackamore. The word "halter" derives from the Germanic words meaning "that by which anything is held."
Uses
A halter is used to lead and tie up an animal. It is used on many different types of livestock. Halters are most closely associated with Equidae such as horses, donkeys, and mules. However, they are also used on farm animals such as cattle and goats and other working animals such as camels, llamas, and yaks. Halters generally are not used on elephants or on predators, though there are halters made for dogs.
Dog wearing a halter-style collar.
Halters are often plain in design, used as working equipment on a daily basis. In addition to the halter, a lead line, lead shank or lead rope is required to actually lead or tie the animal. It is most often attached to the halter at a point under the jaw, or less often, at the cheek, usually with a snap, but occasionally spliced directly onto the halter. A standard working lead rope is approximately 9 to 12 feet (2.7 to 3.7m) long.
However, specially designed halters, sometimes highly decorated, are used for in-hand or "halter" classes at horse shows and in other livestock shows. When an animal is shown in an exhibition, the show halter is fitted more closely than a working halter and may have a lead shank that tightens on the head so that commands from the handler may be more discreetly transmitted by means of the leadline. A shank that tightens on the animal's head when pulled is not used for tying the animal.
Halters are designed to catch, hold, lead and tie animals, and nothing else. However, some people ride horses using a halter instead of a bridle. In most cases, it is not safe to ride in an ordinary stable halter because it fits loosely and provides no leverage to the rider should a horse panic or bolt. It is particularly unsafe if the lead rope is used as a single rein, attached to the leading ring under the jaw.
Construction
Horse wearing a nylon web halter (US) or headcollar (headstall).
Halters may be classified into two broad categories, depending on whether the material used is flat or round. Materials include cured leather, rawhide, rope, and many different fibers, including nylon, polyester, cotton, and jute. Leather and rawhide may be flat or rolled. Fibers may be woven into flat webbing or twisted into round rope. Flat or round dictates the construction method: flat materials normally are sewn to buckles or rings at attachment points; round materials are knotted or spliced. Knotted halters often are made from a single piece of rope.
Horse halters
An Arabian horse in a stylized show halter
Horse shown in hand, wearing a Yorkshire halter.
Horse halters are sometimes confused with a bridle. The primary difference between a halter and a bridle is that a halter is used by a handler on the ground to lead or tie up an animal, but a bridle is generally used by a person who is riding or driving an animal that has been trained in this use. A halter is safer than a bridle for tying, as the bit of a bridle may injure the horse's mouth if the horse sets back while tied with a bridle, and in addition, many bridles are made of lighter materials and will break. On the other hand, a bridle offers more precise control.
One common halter design is made of either flat nylon webbing or flat leather, has a noseband that passes around the muzzle with one ring under the jaw, usually used to attach a lead rope, and two rings on either side of the head. The noseband is usually adjusted to lie about halfway between the end of the cheekbones and the corners of the mouth, crossing over the strong, bony part of the face. The noseband connects to a cheekpiece on either side that go up next to the cheekbone to meet with a ring on either side that usually is placed just above the level of the eye. These rings meet the throatlatch and the crownpiece. The crownpiece is a long strap on the right-hand side of the halter that goes up behind the ears, over the poll and is buckled to a shorter strap coming up...(and so on)

Crossbar switch
I want to introduct something about .
A crossbar switch (also known as cross-point switch, crosspoint switch, or matrix switch) is a switch connecting multiple inputs to multiple outputs in a matrix manner. Originally the term was used literally, for a matrix switch controlled by a grid of crossing metal bars, and later was broadened to matrix switches in general. It is one of the principal switch architectures, together with a memory switch and a crossover switch.

General properties
A crossbar switch has a characteristic matrix of switches between the inputs and the outputs. If the switch has M inputs and N outputs, then a crossbar has a matrix with M x N cross-points or places where the "bars" cross. A given crossbar is a single layer, non-blocking switch. Collections of crossbars can be used to implement multiple layer and/or blocking switches.
Applications
Crossbar switches are most famously used in information processing applications such as telephony and packet switching, but they are also used in applications such as mechanical sorting machines with inputs. The crossbar "format" is also used in some semiconductor memory devices (see nanotechnology). Here the "bars" are extremely thin metal wires, and the "switches" are fusible links. The fuses are blown or opened using high voltage and read using low voltage. Such devices are called Programmable read-only memory. At the 2008 NSTI Nanotechnology Conference a paper was presented which discussed a nanoscale crossbar implementation of an adding circuit used as an alternative to logic gates for computation.
Implementations
Historically, a crossbar switch consisted of metal bars associated with each input and output, controlling movable contacts at each cross-point. In the later part of the 20th Century these literal crossbar switches declined and the term came to be used figuratively for rectangular array switches in general. Modern "crossbar switches" are usually implemented with semiconductor technology. An important emerging class of optical crossbars are being implemented with MEMS technology.
Mechanical
A type of middle 19th Century telegraph exchange consisted of a grid of vertical and horizontal brass bars with a hole at each intersection. The operator inserted a brass pin to connect one telegraph line to another.
Electromechanical / telephony
A telephony crossbar switch is an electromechanical device for switching telephone calls. The first design of what is now called a crossbar switch was Western Electric's "coordinate selector" of 1915. It was little used in America, but the LM Ericsson company used an improved version for rural exchanges in Sweden. To save money on control systems, this system was organized on the stepping switch or selector principle rather than the link principle. The system design used in AT&T's 1XB crossbar exchanges, which entered revenue service from 1938, was developed by Bell Telephone Labs, based on the rediscovered link principle. Delayed by the Second World War, several millions of urban 1XB lines were installed from the 1950s in the United States. Crossbar switching quickly spread to the rest of the world, replacing most earlier designs like the Strowger and Panel systems in larger installations in the U.S. Graduating from entirely electromechanical control on introduction, they were gradually elaborated to have full electronic control and a variety of calling features including short-code and speed dialling. In the UK the Plessey Company produced a range of crossbar exchanges, but their widespread rollout by the British Post Office began later than in other countries, and then was inhibited by the parallel development of TXE reed relay and electronic exchange systems, so they never achieved a large number of customer connections although they did find some success as tandem switch exchanges.
Crossbar switches use switching matrices made from a two-dimensional array of contacts arranged in an x-y format. These switching matrices are operated by a series of horizontal bars arranged over the contacts. Each such "select" bar can be rocked up or down by electromagnets to provide access to two levels of the matrix. A second set of vertical "hold" bars is set at right angles to the first (hence the name, "crossbar") and also operated by electromagnets. The select bars carry spring-loaded wire fingers that operate the contacts beneath the bars. When the select and then the hold electromagnets operate in sequence to move the bars, they trap one of the fingers to close the contacts beneath the point where two bars cross. This then makes the connection through the switch to connect...(and so on)

Methyl cellulose (or methylcellulose) is a chemical compound derived from cellulose. It is a hydrophilic white powder in pure form and dissolves in cold (but not in hot) water, forming a clear viscous solution or gel. It is sold under a variety of trade names and is used as a thickener and emulsifier in various food and cosmetic products, and also as a treatment of constipation. Like cellulose, it is not digestible, not toxic, and not allergenic.

Chemistry
Chemically, methyl cellulose is a methyl ether of cellulose, arising from substituting the hydrogen atoms of some of cellulose's hydroxyl groups -OH with methyl groups -CH3, forming -OCH3 groups.
Different kinds of methyl cellulose can be prepared depending on the number of hydroxyl groups so substituted. Cellulose is a polymer consisting of numerous linked glucose molecules, each of which exposes three hydroxyl groups. The Degree of Substitution (DS) of a given form of methyl cellulose is defined as the average number of substituted hydroxyl groups per glucose. The theoretical maximum is thus a DS of 3.0, however more typical values are 1.3 - 2.6.
Different methyl cellulose preparations can also differ in the average length of their polymer backbones.
Methyl cellulose does not occur naturally and is synthetically produced by heating cellulose with caustic solution (e.g. a solution of sodium hydroxide) and treating it with methyl chloride.
Solubility and temperature
Methyl cellulose dissolves in cold water. Higher DS-values result in lower solubility, because the polar hydroxyl groups are masked. The chemical is not soluble in hot water, which has the paradoxical effect that heating a saturated solution of methyl cellulose will turn it solid, because methyl cellulose will precipitate out. The temperature at which this occurs depends on DS-value, with higher DS-values giving lower precipitation temperatures.
Preparing a solution of methyl cellulose with cold water is difficult however: as the powder comes into contact with water, a gluey layer forms around it, and the inside remains dry. A better way is to first mix the powder with hot water, so that the methyl cellulose particles are well dispersed in the water, and cool down this dispersion while stirring, leading to the dissolution of those particles.
Uses
Methyl cellulose has an extremely wide range of uses, of which several are described below.
Stem cell differentiation
Methylcellulose is used in the most common approaches to quantify multi-lineage- or single lineage-committed hematopoietic progenitors, called colony-forming cells (CFCs) or colony-forming units (CFUs), in combination with culture supplements that promote their proliferation and differentiation and allow the clonal progeny of a single progenitor cell to stay together and thus form a colony of more mature cells. MethoCult is one such methylcellulose-based media.
Scientifically Advanced Cookery
Methyl cellulose, as a gel, has the unique property of setting when hot and melting when cold. This technique is currently being developed at the University of Nottingham.
Thickener and emulsifier
Methyl cellulose is often added to hair shampoos, tooth pastes and liquid soaps, to generate their characteristic thick consistency. This is also done for foods, for example ice cream or croquette. Methyl cellulose is also an important emulsifier, preventing the separation of two mixed liquids.
The E number of methyl cellulose as food additive is E461.
Treatment of constipation
When eaten, methyl cellulose is not absorbed by the intestines but passes through the digestive tract undisturbed. It attracts large amounts of water into the colon, producing a softer and bulkier stool. It is used to treat constipation, diverticulosis, hemorrhoids and irritable bowel syndrome. It should be taken with sufficient amounts of...(and so on)

Avobenzone (trade names Parsol 1789, Eusolex 9020, Escalol 517 and others, INCI Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane) is an oil soluble ingredient used in sunscreen products to absorb the full spectrum of UVA rays. It is a dibenzoylmethane derivative. Its ability to absorb ultraviolet light over a wider range of wavelengths than many organic sunscreen agents has led to its use in many commercial preparations marketed as "broad spectrum" sunscreens. Avobenzone has an absorption maximum of 357 nm.

History
Avobenzone was patented in 1973 and was approved in the EU in 1978. It was approved by the FDA in 1988. Its use is approved world wide.
Avobenzone has been shown to degrade significantly in light, resulting in less protection over time. The UV-A light in a day of sunlight in a temperate climate is sufficient to break down most of the compound. This degradation can be reduced by using a photostabilizer, like octocrylene. Other photostabilizers include:
4-Methylbenzylidene camphor (USAN Enzacamene)
Tinosorb S (USAN Bemotrizinol, INCI Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine)
Tinosorb M (USAN Bisoctrizole, INCI Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol)
Butyloctyl Salicylate (Tradename HallBrite BHB - )
Hexadecyl Benzoate
Butyloctyl Benzoate
Mexoryl SX (USAN Ecamsule, INCI Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid)
Corapan TQ (INCI Diethylhexyl 2,6-Naphthalate)
Parsol SLX (INCI Polysilicone-15)
Oxynex ST (INCI Diethylhexyl Syringylidene Malonate)
Polycrylene (INCI Polyester-8)
Complexing avobenzone with cyclodextrins may also increase its photostability.
According to some studies, "the most effective sunscreens contain avobenzone and titanium dioxide."
Avobenzone can degrade faster in light in combination with mineral UV absorbers like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, though with the right coating of the mineral particles this reaction can be reduced. A manganese doped titanium dioxide may be better than undoped titanium dioxide to improve avobenzone's stability.
Avobenzone reacts with minerals to form colored complexes. Manufacturers of avobenzone, like DSM recommend to include a chelator to prevent this from happening. They also recommend to avoid the inclusion of iron and ferric salts, heavy metals, formaldehyde donors and PABA and PABA esters.
The makers of Coppertone advise that avobenzone binds iron and can cause staining of clothes washed in iron-rich water.

Jasper Maskelyne (19021973) was a British stage magician in the 1930s and 1940s. He was one of an established family of stage magicians, the son of Nevil Maskelyne and a grandson of John Nevil Maskelyne. He could also trace his ancestry to the royal astronomer Nevil Maskelyne. He is most remembered, however, for the accounts of his work for British military intelligence during the Second World War, creating large-scale ruses, deception, and camouflage.

Wartime trickery
A truck disguised as a tank
According to the autobiographical Magic: Top Secret and David Fisher's biography , Maskelyne's wartime career was as follows.
Maskelyne joined the Royal Engineers when the Second World War broke out, thinking that his skills could be used in camouflage. He convinced skeptical officers by creating the illusion of a German warship on the Thames using mirrors and a model. He was eventually deployed to the African theatre in the Western Desert, although he spent most of his time entertaining the troops.
In January 1941, General Archibald Wavell created A Force for subterfuge and counterintelligence. Maskelyne was assigned to serve in it and gathered a group of 14 assistants, including an architect, art restorer, carpenter, chemist, electrical engineer, electrician, painter, and stage-set builder. It was nicknamed the Magic Gang.
The Magic Gang built a number of tricks. They used painted canvas and plywood to make jeeps look like tanks with fake tank tracks and tanks look like trucks. They created illusions of armies and battleships.
His largest trick was to conceal Alexandria and the Suez Canal to misdirect German bombers. He built a mockup of the night-lights of Alexandria in a bay three miles away with fake buildings, lighthouse, and anti-aircraft batteries. To mask the Suez Canal he built a revolving cone of mirrors that created a wheel of spinning light nine miles wide, meant to dazzle and disorient enemy pilots so that their bombs would fall off-target.
In 1942 he worked in Operation Bertram, before the battle of El Alamein. His task was to make German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel think that the attack was coming from the south when British General Bernard Montgomery planned to attack from the north. In the north, 1,000 tanks were disguised as trucks. On the south, the Magic Gang created 2,000 fake tanks with convincing pyrotechnics. There was a fake railway line, fake radio conversations, and fake sounds of construction. They also built a fake water pipeline and made it look as if it would never be ready before attack.
The Magic Gang was disbanded after the battle and, although Winston Churchill praised his efforts, Maskelyne did not receive the appreciation he desired. Maskelyne tried to resume his stage career after the war without much success. He moved to Kenya and founded a driving school.
A report in The Guardian of June 28, 2002, was more blunt: "Maskelyne received no official recognition. For a vain man this was intolerable and he died an embittered drunk. It gives his story a poignancy without which it would be mere chest-beating."
Jasper Maskelyne died in 1973.
Doubts
The standard Maskelyne account has been critically analysed by the military historian and magician Richard Stokes. In a 21-article series originally written in 1993-95 for the Australian magic magazine Geniis Magic Journal, Stokes documents many chronological inaccuracies and unsubstantiated events, concluding that Maskelyne's wartime exploits have been heavily fictionalised, particularly via the ghost-written Magic: Top Secret. Stokes has created a website where he has posted these articles and related materials.
Stokes also points out the existence of two Maskelyne genealogies, casting doubt that the line of magicians was descended from the astronomer Nevil Maskelyne.
Trivia
Before the Second World War Jasper Maskelyne was a "blaster" of the Ancient Order of Froth Blowers, a charitable parody of the Freemasons that operated from 1926-31. His lodge (called a Vat) ran from Maskelyne's Theatre.

The Vinland map
The Vinland map is purportedly a 15th-century mappa mundi, redrawn from a 13th-century original. In addition to showing Africa, Asia and Europe, the map depicts a large island west of Greenland in the Atlantic labelled as Vinland; the map describes this region as having been visited in the 11th century. If authentic, such evidence is an important addition to archaeological findings such as the L'Anse aux Meadows Norse site in Newfoundland, documenting pre-Columbian Norse travels to the Americas, but the map has been controversial since it was first revealed in 1965, and both the most recent chemical analysis and the most recent scholarly monograph on the subject have suggested that it is a forgery.

Recent history
The Vinland Map first came to light in 1957 (three years before the discovery of the Norse site at L'Anse aux Meadows in 1960) and was offered to Yale University by an alumnus, Laurence C. Witten II, an antiquarian book dealer. Unable to afford the asking price, and concerned that the dealer refused to reveal the provenance of the item, Yale contacted another alumnus, Paul Mellon, who agreed to buy it, and donate it to the university if it could be authenticated. Recognizing its potential importance as the earliest map to show America, Mellon insisted that the authentication, conducted by two British Museum curators and a Yale librarian, be carried out in secret. This was to prove controversial, as the trio were unable to consult specialists. After years of study, they decided the map was authentic; Mellon donated it to Yale, and it was revealed to the world in 1965, coinciding with the publication of the team's research findings as an elegant book, The Vinland Map and the Tartar Relation by Dr. Raleigh Ashlin Skelton, Thomas E Marston and George Painter. A year later, a Vinland Map Conference was held at the Smithsonian Institution, during which various significant questions were raised but unfortunately, the proceedings were not published for another five years. In 1995, following years of debate and research, Yale released a second edition of its book, including new articles arguing that the map is authentic. The New York Times (February 13, 1996) reported that insurers valued the map at $25 million.
Context
The last remnant of old ownership marks
The Vinland Map was bound together with a codex, Hystoria Tartarorum ("Description of the Tartars," sometimes referred to as the Tartar Relation). The Historia is a manuscript of undoubted authenticity that was at some point bound with the Vinland Map. It is a description of the history and manners of the Mongols that appears to be an early version of the memoir of Giovanni da Pian del Carpine, an Italian Franciscan friar who in 1245 made a trip to the supreme Khan at Karakorum. Carpine went on to write a more robust account of his travels, but the shorter "Tartar Relation" survived until the 15th century by being included as an addendum to a volume of Vincent of Beauvais's encyclopedic "Historical Mirror" (Speculum historiale). Before the items were first offered to Yale, probably while they were being rebound into two volumes, all traces of former ownership marks, except for a small part of a bright pink stamp which overlapped the writing on folio 223 of the Speculum, were removed, perhaps to avoid tax liability for the former owner.
Authenticity controversy
In the absence of a clear provenance for the map, there have been claims that it is a forgery strengthened by the 1957 dealer's admission, printed in the second edition of the Skelton book, that he had told lies during the authentication process and examinations by a number of institutions have returned conflicting results.
Dating of parchment
Radiocarbon dating, performed by physicist Douglass Donahue and chemists Jacqueline Olin and Garman Harbottle, place the origin of the parchment somewhere between 1423 and 1445, although the entire map appears to have been coated with an unknown substance sometime in the 1950s. This could have been part of a previously undocumented attempt at preservation, or could have been done by a forger as part of the process of drawing a new map on a previously used piece of 15th-century parchment (palimpsest). It is unclear whether the ink on the map is on top of this more recent layer of material or not.
Analysis of ink
Detailed examination of the map at the British Museum in 1967 revealed that the ink was unlike anything the scientific staff there had ever seen, and the map outline appeared to consist of two superimposed lines,...(and so on)

Life and career
Doyle, the younger brother of the Misfits bassist, Jerry Only, was originally a roadie for the band and was taught how to play guitar by Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only. He joined The Misfits in October 1980 at the age of 16. Doyle was the band's third guitarist, replacing Bobby Steele among claims that Glenn and Jerry disapproved of Steele's guitar playing. Like Glenn and Jerry, Doyle incorporated the Devilock into his image. Jerry and Doyle would finance the band by working at their father's shop.
In 1987, four years after the Misfits, Doyle and Jerry formed the metal band Kryst The Conqueror with drummer The Murp. Select songs from the album were released by Jerry Only's record label "Cyclopian Music" as an EP, and featured guest guitarist Dave "The Snake" Sabo of the metal band Skid Row.
In 1995 Jerry settled a legal battle out of court with co-founder Glenn Danzig, effectively allowing him rights to the bands name on a performing level. Doyle and Jerry reformed The Misfits in 1995, this time with Jerry acting as the band's figurehead and with Michale Graves as vocalist and Dr. Chud as drummer. The group released two full length albums of new material. In 2000 at a live show, Doyle unplugged his guitar and left the band. In an interview on KNAC Radio in Hollywood, Doyle said that he felt there was no semblance of a band after Graves and Chud left, going on to state he felt embarassed to perform without a "real" singer.
In 2005, Doyle left New Jersey for Las Vegas, and began auditioning members for his own band, Gorgeous Frankenstein. In 2006, he appeared on stage with Danzig numerous times throughout their tour. They would meet again in 2007, when Gorgeous Frankenstein played their first tour, opening for Danzig. Doyle has since joined them on several occasions to play 30-minute-long sets of classic Misfits songs.
In 2008 Doyle had one of his hand made, custom Annihilator guitars and a set of speakers auctioned off on eBay. The equipment was used live from 1996-2001 and sold for thousands of dollars.
After years of interest from Doyle and demands from fans, Doyle began releasing high-end standard guitar and bass versions of his Annihilator through October Guitars.
In a partnership with Haunted Hot Sauce, Doyle is set to release a product line of his own spicy sauce.
Gorgeous Frankenstein set out to tour another set of dates for 2008. The band now includes Argyle Goolsby of Blitzkid fame on bass and vocals and Dr. Chud, formerly of the Misfits on drums.
Doyle claimed that a reunion effort with Glenn Danzig ceased further progression when "Jerry put a fuckin' monkey wrench in it. [In] 2002, we had meetings ... And [Jerry] kind of fucked it up, him and his manager. We were going to do a record, do a tour and everything."
Equipment
Doyle's early guitar playing style consisted heavily of down strokes and power chords during which he used an Ibanez Iceman guitar. Later, after experimenting with guitars in Kryst the Conqueror, Doyle developed his custom-made Rand Annihilator guitar from 1987 to 1994. Doyle currently uses a custom-made Rand Annihilator guitar, Ampeg Lee Jackson heads, and his own signature Dean Markley strings. He is set to release his own signature amplifier cabinet. He is seen with a Jackson Guitar in old pictures
Personal life
Doyle is married to former pro wrestler Stephanie Bellars. They have a daughter named Boriss and three sons named Louis, Pauly and Isaac. He has their names tattooed on the fingers of his right hand. They moved to Las Vegas, Hollywood and returned to New Jersey. Doyle claims to have been lifting weights for 34 years. He is known to have shy reactions when being filmed and at times refuses to speak.

Patent drawing of chimney starter from U.S. Patent 3,167,040
A chimney starter, also called a charcoal chimney, is a device that is used to start either lump charcoal or charcoal briquettes. It is usually a steel cylinder about 8" (20 cm) in diameter and about 12 to 18 inches (30 to 45 cm) tall. Chimney starters have a plate or grate with several holes that is welded horizontally inside the cylinder about 3" (8 cm) from the bottom. The chimney has large holes drilled around its circumference below the grate. This is to allow air to flow up underneath the charcoal, which rests on top of the grate. They also have handles that are frequently insulated. The chimney starter works by placing newspaper underneath the grate and lighting it on fire. This fire, which is easy to start, goes through the holes in the grate and lights the charcoal on fire. It is commonly used in situations where the use of charcoal lighter fluid, a toxic petroleum derivative, is inappropriate or banned.
Although the chimney starter is now sometimes considered a "traditional" method of starting charcoal, a basic device used for barbecue grills was invented in the 1960's by Hugh King, Lavaughn Johnson, and Garner Byars of Corinth, Mississippi and marketed under the "Auto Fire" label.
Use of a chimney starter
Chimney Starter in use
A chimney starter is used by placing charcoal (as lump charcoal or briquettes) in the chimney so that they stack on top of the grate. The chimney is usually filled to its top with charcoal. Balled-up newspapers or other papers are placed underneath the grate and lit on fire by sticking a match or other lighter through the holes in the bottom of the chimney's sides. Once the paper lights on fire, it will start the charcoal that is just above the grate on fire. The fire spreads up through the charcoal until the entire column of charcoal is on fire. Once the charcoal is all on fire (it will appear glowing red in the bottom and ashed over on the top), the chimney is picked up by its handle and the lit charcoal dumped into the grill.
A non-traditional use is to cook directly over the chimney starter, providing a high-intensity heat-source for flash-searing fish or other foods.

Oxford shoe
A capped Oxford shoe with brogued cap seam
An Oxford shoe is a style of leather shoe with enclosed lacing. Oxford shoes are traditionally constructed of leather and were historically rather plain. The shoes originally appeared in Scotland and Ireland, where they are occasionally called Balmorals. The design of the shoe is often plain, but may include some small ornamentation or perforations.
The meaning of the terms Oxford and Balmoral vary geographically; in the U.S., Balmoral is synonymous with Oxford, and is the more generally used name; elsewhere, especially in Britain, the Balmoral is a particular type of Oxford where there are no seams (apart from the toe cap) descending to the welt, a style particularly common on boots.
As opposed to the other main type of men's laced shoes, the Derby, the two flaps of leather with the piercings for the laces are stitched together at the bottom. The shoes can be made from a variety of leathers for different situations, ranging from formal evening shoes of patent leather, to daytime shoes. These are most commonly black or brown, and may be brogued. The toes may be plain or capped (less formal). Some leathers, such as suede or patterned leathers, and brown leather, are less formal, while other options, such as black leather, are more formal; features of comparable formality are traditionally combined, making combinations such as 'black full brogue' or 'plain capless suede' unorthodox innovations.
More exotic colours and leathers are occasionally seen, such as purple or oxblood, and crocodile skin.

The first generation, introduced in 1990, had only one sliding side door for the rear passengers. It featured a unique mid-engined platform, where the in-line 4-cylinder gasoline-powered engine was installed almost flat (at a 75-degree angle), beneath the front seats. Installing the engine in this configuration allowed easy access to the spark plugs, which were located underneath a panel on the upper right-side of the vehicle, after tilting the front seat backward. All engine-driven accessories, such as the alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, and radiator fan, are accessible from the front hood, driven off the front of the engine by an accessory driveshaft, and is known as the Supplemental Accessory Drive System, or "SADS." This allows for even front/rear weight distribution, which benefits ride quality and handling. However, it also prevents the installation of a larger engine, while the cost could not be relayed by sharing the platform with other vehicles.[citation needed]
The first generation Previa was 4750mm (187in) long and 1803mm (71in) wide. In Japan, two smaller versions, the Toyota Estima Lucida and Toyota Estima Emina, were produced, which were approximately 110mm (4.3in) narrower and 70mm (2.8in) shorter than the standard model. The reason for the difference between the smaller Emina and Lucida models is the vehicle tax system in Japan, which is based on the product of length and width of the car. The smaller variants fall in to a lower tax band. The Estima Emina and Estima Lucida were also available with a 2.2 litre diesel engine (3C-T and 3C-TE).
The first generation Previa was available in both rear- and all-wheel drive versions (called All-Trac) and powered by a 135hp (101kW) JIS (99 kW) 4-cylinder 2.4-litre fuel injection engine. Available with a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual gearbox, this Previa also seated seven or eight people, with three seating configurations offered (North America only received the seven passenger configurations, however). All configurations have a driver and front passenger seat forward, and a three-seat bench seat at the rear that splits and folds flat against the sides of the cabin. The 8-seat configuration contains a 2/1 split swiveling bench seat in the middle row, while the 7-seat configurations contain either two independently swiveling captain's chairs (referred to as "Quad Seating"), in the middle row or a two seat bench offset towards the driver's side. The third row is also better upholstered in the 7-seat version. It was available with either 4-wheel disc brakes or traditional front disc/rear drum brake setup, with Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) as an option.
United States
In the United States, the Previa was sold from 1991 through 1997. It was imported from Japan to compete with Chrysler Corporation's successful Dodge Caravan minivan, and its twins Chrysler Town and Country and Plymouth Voyager. The Previa quickly became a common vehicle in the US, despite its relatively high price, poor fuel economy, and single sliding door (the Chrysler minivans offered dual sliding doors, beginning with their 1996 redesign). The mid-engine design proved to have a special weakness - the inability to increase engine size, which proved a significant problem as American drivers were used to having more power; the Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler models were sold with...(and so on) To get More information , you can visit some products about ball fountain, tv antenna cable, .
