The Pub on the Park, the Fields' popular tavern. (October 2005)
London Fields is both a park, and the name of an area of London, situated in the London Borough of Hackney, East London. The park itself was first recorded in 1540. At this time it was common ground and was used by drovers to pasture their livestock before taking them to market in London.

London Fields contains a cricket pitch, a newly reopened Lido (the lido features a 50metres (164ft) outdoor pool heated to 25 oC), areas of grass, a small BMX track, tennis courts, a table tennis table and two children's play areas. London Fields received a Green Flag award in July 2008. A much-used cycle path runs from Pub on the Park to Broadway Market. London Fields also has a railway station linking it to Hackney Downs railway station and to Liverpool Street Station in the City. The Pub on the Park is the starting point for the annual Dunwich Dynamo night cycle ride.
The London Fields area used to be another neglected corner of East London, usually lumped in as part of Dalston, but the people who have stayed have seen enormous change and it has emerged as a district with its own character. House prices in the area have risen 20% in the past two years and there has been an influx of young, upwardly mobile professionals bringing a perceived gentrification of the area with them. The main shopping street of Broadway Market boasts a wide selection of boutiques, pubs and cafes and thanks to these - and the successful Saturday market - the area is regarded as thriving.
London Fields is also now one of the centres of the London art scene, the initial 'buzz' being fostered by the influential Flowers East gallery. Although this has since moved to Shoreditch, it has left a legacy of small to medium art galleries, often artist-run. 'The Hothouse', a studio/gallery complex which has recently undergone a major expansion, faces onto the park's north east corner. The rise in accommodation costs (partly the result of this cultural upsurge) have ironically meant that few up-and-coming artists can afford to live there, however.
Every Saturday, the market brings a wide variety of producers from around the country to take part in the farmers' market selling quality produce, complemented by many others selling hand-made jewellery, gifts, childrenswear, and vintage clothing.
A document in Hackney library records a game of cricket to have been played on the park as early as 1802, and the cricket strip on London Fields still hosts competitive games throughout the summer (late April - mid September). Several teams from the North East London Cricket League regard the park as their home pitch, most notably London Fields CC, based from the Pub on the Park. During the summer the park can be extremely busy with many people combining an afternoon's barbecue with watching the cricket. The Turley End of the ground is a popular vantage point for those watching the cricket.
Education
There is also a primary school named after the area, 'London Fields Primary School' opposite one of the entrances to London Fields park.
For details of education in London Fields, see List of schools in the London Borough of Hackney.

Alaska Gold Nugget
Alaska Gold Nuggets
A gold nugget is a naturally occurring piece of native gold. Watercourses often concentrate the nuggets and they are recovered by placer mining, but they may also be found in residual deposits where the gold-bearing veins or lodes have decayed. Nuggets are also found in the tailings piles of previous mining operations, especially those left by gold mining dredges. They are never pure 24K in composition but rather about 20 to 22K (~about 83% to 92%). Nuggets are also referred to by their "fineness", for example "865 fine" means the nugget is 865 parts per thousand in gold. The common impurities are silver and copper. Nuggets high in silver content are known as "electrum".
The largest gold nugget ever found was the Welcome Stranger, found at Moliagul, Victoria, Australia in 1869 by John Deason and Richard Oates. It weighed gross, over 2,520 troy ounces (78.38 kg) and returned over 2,284 troy ounces (71.04 kg) net. The largest gold nugget still in existence is the Hand of Faith, found in 1980 using a metal detector.

Sachs moped motor
Tempo
Tempo was a Norwegian motorcycle and moped manufacturer. Jonas ?gl?nd was responsible for making the frames, and ZF Sachs AG made the engines. They first and foremost sold mopeds.

The First Tempo
The first Tempo ever manufactured was the Tempo Handy. It carried a small 1.5 hp engine with three gears, located as a small handle by the left hand. It had a three litre gasoline tank and weighed nearly 28 kilograms. To start the moped, one had to put the engine in the second gear (the start gear) and use the manual pedals to gain speed using the feet while keeping the clutch in. When the speedometer had reached about 10 km/h, the clutch was released and the engine started. It was stopped simply by breaking the connection between the small dynamo and the spark plug by pressing a small switch. This moped sold well and was very cheap, but eventually, more luxuries were needed, and Tempo made the Corvette.
The Corvette
The small and easy-driven Corvette, a small moped manufactured from the early 1960s until 1994. It had a 50cm3 engine which produced about 2.5 hp and four manual gears, shifted with a pedal on the left side of the motor block. The combination of German engines and Norwegian frames was cheap and reliable, with few errors. They were especially popular during the 1960s and the 1970s. Carrying a 5 litre gasoline tank, it needed a small amount of two-stroke oil mixed with the gasoline to run smoothly. The manufacter recommended 4% oil mixture with the gasoline, but now you may use 2%.The engine started by pressing the gear pedal all the way down (to the first gear), and then to the gear position between 1 and 2 (neutral), then hitting the kickstarter with the left foot. The Corvette were very reliable, you just tip the gas dipper(like choke) a few times, a bit throttle and kick, and the Corvette would start.
The mopeds Tempo made were easy to acquire, and were sold at grocery marts as well as supermarkets and bicycle stores. In Norway before 1980, a driver's licence for a moped was not required, but the driver had to be 16 years old.
Although the Corvette sold well, they headed towards the more sporty generation and manufactured the Tempo Panter, with more of a crosser look, but with the same engine size and tank volume. This was also a big success.
Motorcycles
Tempo also made motorcycles. The smallest was actually a Corvette with a 49cm2 engine, producing 4,3 hp, sold under the Comet brand. This small motorcycle had a longer seat, allowing two persons to ride.
The cruiser-like CZ was also produced. It had a 150cm2 engine with 6,8 hp and was sturdy and comfortable to ride. A speeder-like variant was also produced; the Fighter. This motorcycle had the technical specifications of 12,5 hp, and with a larger fuel tank and a more sportier look than all the other modells. All these variants were popular at their heights.
The End of Tempo
Eventually, Tempo did not sell to well, due to the march of the Japanese mopeds and motorcycles. At the end of the 1980s, the Honda MT5 and the Suzuki TSX were introduced, with five gears and a lighter and more comfortable brake, gear and clutch system. The Japanese models also used less gas. The Tempo Corvette was discontinued in 1994, and the Panter in 1993. Tempo continued to make some mopeds with improved specifications, but they never sold as well as Honda or Suzuki, seeing as they had turn lights, neutral gear lamps, ignition locks, and a better suspension system.
Today, the Tempo mopeds and motorcycles are the focus of entusiasts, and they are collected and restored around the country.

The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH ((Fation de l'industrie horloge suisse) is the Swiss watch industry's leading trade association. It is headquartered in Bienne, Switzerland. Most of the Swiss Watch Companies are members.
On the FH website, one can find the listings of all the members, including most of the manufacturers of parts and their respective websites, as well as many other interesting information about the Swiss Watch Industry, including the rules on the label Swiss Made, statistics, etc.
External links
It is a private, non-profit trade association, with over 500 members representing more than 90% of all Swiss watch manufacturers (finished products, watch movements, components, etc.).
The Federation's avowed goals are:
"To contribute to the development of the Swiss watch industry."
"To establish a permanent link between its members to promote their joint interests."
"To represent the Swiss watch industry in dealing with the Swiss, foreign and international authorities and economic organisations."
"To protect the interests of its members in the drafting of national and foreign legislation, as well as during international negotiations to defend its members' interests by means of legal proceedings."
Aside from offices in Switzerland, it maintains permanent offices in Hong Kong and Japan.
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH launched a proposal regarding the "Swiss made" label. The main reason is that some companies that manufacture fine watches do not enjoy the quality of some timepieces that have the "Swiss made" label.
Jean-Daniel Pasche, who is currently the chairman of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH, said that the reform project looks forward to improve the way fine watches are evaluated.

Madras (cloth)
I want to introduct something about .
Madras is a lightweight cotton fabric with patterned texture, used primarily for summer clothing -- pants, shorts, dresses and jackets. The fabric takes its name from the former English name of the city of Chennai, India.
One style popular during the 1960s was called bleeding Madras. It used dyes that were not colorfast in a typically plaid design, resulting in bleeding and fading colors that yielded a new look to the fabric each time it was laundered.
The fabric is mentioned many times in the S.E. Hinton book The Outsiders as a favored clothing worn by the Socs, normally as a shirt or a jacket.

History
In July 1883 plans were submitted to the Board of Governors for a school for girls in Napier, and the following month the Board advertised for a Lady principal who would be required to teach English, Latin, French and Mathematics and take charge of the Boarding establishment. Miss M.E. Hewett was appointed, and the school opened on January 29, 1884. The original school course included English, French, Latin, German, Drawing, Singing and Calisthenics. Thirty nine pupils were on the books that first day, and one boarder was enrolled.
The original school building had classrooms on the ground floor, and rooms for the boarders upstairs. It stood where the main hostel building, Hewett House, now stands. It was badly damaged in the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake, and had to be demolished. The main building of the present school, named Spencer Building after Miss A.E.J. Spencer, the school's third principal, stands in what was the original playing area of the first school.
The school hall features a large painting by renowned New Zealand artist, Rita Angus.
Uniform
Napier Girls' High has a summer uniform worn in terms 1 and 4, and a winter uniform worn in terms 2 and 3. The summer uniform is a blue skirt with a white short sleeve blouse and blue sandals. The winter uniform is a Napier tartan kilt with a white long sleeve blouse, blue/white stripped tie and blue jersey with blue socks or black tights and black shoes.
Notable ex-pupils
Emma Twigg - Olympic rower
